I know some of you believe that the directory is now a thing of myth. Well I know it still exists like dragons and unicorns. I like being there even though no one knows where it is anymore. Please click the link to recommend me. I believe, I believe, I know it’s silly but I believe.
Can you please youtube you drawing a tree? They're so awesome and I am curious about your technique.
Thank you for the request and wonderful praise. Not sure how I would accomplish it since I do most of my drawing in meetings and because of the time it takes, but I’ll give it some thought. In the mean time I’ll try to put something together that I can post to show my steps and techniques. First thing is to get a good pen if you are going to work in ink. I use a Zebra F-701 or F-402 because I like the weight and consistent ink flow. But, you can do what I do with pencils or graphite.
I really love your work, it'd beautiful. You should consider making a tutorial pertaining to your thought process when your drawing and like the steps you take. Really great work, I'm jealous :)
Thank you very much for the suggestion and kind words. Oddly enough, I usually am not thinking about what I am drawing when I am drawing it. Typically I am engaged in some other activity while working on my trees and let them develop on their own. I will see if I can find a way to document how I do the various parts of the tree and post the steps. Mostly it would be about how to layer things to build up the elements of the drawing since I work with ink.
thanks for your kind words sir...i will try to do better soon. the bark doesn't really look like the actual tree-reference.... hahah. i think tree drawings are really interesting so i promise myself to draw an "acceptable" one this year.
You are welcome. I wish I could draw people as well as you. Keep up the good work.
Not really a question but, I really love your work so much! I just had to express that! reblogging and clicking the like button really doesn't do justice for how much I enjoy your art! You are truly talented and inspiring. <3
Wow, thank you so very much! If the drawings I saw on your blog are yours (anime looking with hearts), you are also very talented.
I just wanted to say that I LOVE your tree series. They are so beautiful and intricate that I can get lost in these images for ages...
Thank you very much! That is one of the most wonderful complements I have ever received. I enjoy doing them since they help keep me sane during long meetings. The more intricate ones take anywhere from forty to eighty hours.
I would like to say thank you to everyone who has chosen to follow me here on Tumblr. It amazes me that over 700 wonderful people are interested in what I am doing. Today I got quite a few questions and I will get them answered. Currently I am dealing with a “slight” flood due to a water pipe leak in the wall. Plus I want to think about the best way to answer some of the ones who are interested in my technique. I am happy to share that information with anyone who is interested. Again, thank you for your support, it really means a lot to me.
Here it is Tumblr Tuesday again and I would like to say thank you for your support. Once again the support of my wonderful followers has allowed me to remain on the Tumblr Directory. It is only with the incredible generosity of your support and recommendation that I may remain there. Please recommend me once again so I may keep my place on the hallowed illustrator directory page. Your support is always appreciated and inspires me to keep creating my tree drawings.
Hello Tedd. :) I am a big fan of all the trees you draw! Can you give me some tips on drawing in pen? I like to do pen work myself but am always nervous about making mistakes.
Thanks for following. The only things I can tell you is that I use a good pen (Zebra F-701), tilt it almost flat to the paper and keep the contact with the paper very light. I get shading very similar to graphite that way. It takes me over forty hours (and as many as eighty) for some of the more detailed works I do, because there is layer upon layer of light pen strokes to accomplish the dark shading. Don’t be afraid of mistakes, they can be opportunities just like in life. You can learn a lot from them.
The dark hole at the base of the “Tree of Love” was a mistake I covered up. I had a rock that looked like it was floating and had to fix it. Never let fear stop you from art or life. Remember a life lived in fear is a life half lived and with art you can always start over.

My intention is to try not and embarrass myself, but I just recently noticed that you started following my art blog (idandego) and I felt compelled to say thank you and a million times thank you for showing interest. I have been following you for awhile and I must say, your art of trees are awe inspiring. Your skill, creativity and detail are amazing. There is so much life in each piece. you sir, are amazing :)
Thank you very much for the follow and the complement. I am surprised I wasn’t following you sooner. Your art is incredible and imaginative. Keep up the beautiful work.

Haven’t had a lot of time lately to draw because life keeps getting in my way. Here are some other ballpoint pen sketches I have been which are in the works. (Never blog first thing in the morning without coffee or glasses.)
This has two trees leaning into each other and growing together.
This one is a bit curvy and whimsical.
This is more realistic, a bit dark and almost finished.
Just getting started on this. There is more of a fantasy element in this.
As I have said in the past, I always have about thirty or so drawings going at any given time. I hope you enjoy seeing the work in process.
